An issue was discovered in the initial version of the MS06-042 "REVISED
PATCH" and "CORRUPT PATCH" Fixlet messages that causes some machines to
not report relevant even though the revised patch is needed. The
original relevance inspects the registry key
"HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Updates\Internet Explorer
6\SP1\KB918899-IE6SP1-20060725.123917\Filelist\14" to verify the version
of the file "urlmon.dll" installed by the applied update. Depending on
the system configuration at the time of patch installation, the
"urlmon.dll" file information may be stored under a different subkey,
causing the relevance to incorrectly evaluate to false. The Fixlet
messages have been modified to search through all "Filelist" subkeys to
determine whether or not the original update is installed.

Affected Fixlet messages:

604214 MS06-042: CORRUPT PATCH - IE 6.0 SP1 - Windows 2000 SP4/Windows
XP SP1

604215 MS06-042: REVISED PATCH - IE 6.0 SP1 - Windows 2000 SP4/Windows
XP SP1

BES Administrators are encouraged to verify relevant computer counts and
open actions for the affected Fixlet messages.

Microsoft re-released MS06-042 today to inform users of the availability
of a revised security update for IE 6.0 SP1. The revised security update
addresses several known issues caused by the original version of the
update. Microsoft recommends all customers using IE 6.0 SP1 apply the
revised update immediately. See the Microsoft Security Bulletin for more
information:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/ms06-042.mspx
<http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/ms06-042.mspx>

New Fixlet messages have been published to the "Enterprise Security"
site to deploy the revised update, the "REVISED PATCH" Fixlet message
will become relevant on machines that have the original version of the
update installed:

MS06-042 Fixlet messages that deployed the original version of the
update have been superseded by the re-release and have been modified
accordingly:
