BigFix, An IBM Company, is pleased to announce the general availability of the DSS SAM Software Catalog September Update.

Applicable DSS SAM versions: This Software Catalog upgrade file will work with DSS SAM versions 1.1 and later. If you are currently running an earlier version, please download the latest product release (DSS SAM 1.2.4), upgrade your server, and then apply the catalog update.

This catalog upgrade contains everything you need to bring DSS SAM 1.1 or later up to date with the most comprehensive list of current software publishers, software titles, software title versions, and application signatures. If you choose to install the update, all customizations you have already made to your catalog will remain intact.

The upgrade package, instructions for merging the update into your existing deployment, and a complete list of changes from the previously released catalog is available at the same URL you received from BigFix Licensing when you were initially granted your license for the product.

Installation time will vary according to a number of factors, such as server activity. For most deployments, it should take just a few minutes to download the package and apply the update to your DSS SAM server.

Remember, after any update to the DSS SAM Catalog, please check for changes that may affect your inventory results by looking through the Contracts in DSS SAM, checking the Ambiguous Entries list for items you may need to tune, and examining the Unmapped Packages and Unmapped Executables for items to add to the Catalog. These simple steps will ensure the Catalog stays tuned for your environment.

In addition to regular periodic releases of the DSS SAM product, we also expect to continue to provide software catalog updates on an approximately monthly basis.
