Fixlet Description: Oracle has released a new version of the Java SE Runtime Environment (JRE). Use the action below to update Java to version 7, update 11.

Important Note: The Java Runtime Environment update does not remove versions of JRE older than JRE 7 update 11. Multiple versions of JRE may be present on affected computers after applying the action below. Fixlet message "Multiple JRE Versions Installed" (ID 7052001) can be used to uninstall older versions of the Java Runtime Environment.

Important Note: Follow the link for the 'Java SE Runtime Environment (JRE) 7 update 11' download on this page. The file "jre-7u11-windows-i586.exe" must be downloaded, renamed "682fb136563f08c20d37b25a28fce0883f893d8b", and placed in the BES Server download cache for this action to complete successfully. For more information about manually caching file downloads on the BES Server, please see the following BigFix Support Knowledge Base article.

Important Note: For Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2008, and Windows Server 2008 R2 users, the installation may fail if the User Account Control (UAC) is enabled.

Important Note: Choosing the "Upgrade to the latest JRE regardless of whether or not Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Java is currently running action" will close any running instance of Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Java on the client machines. Please schedule the update to occur at a time when a service interruption is acceptable.

Fixlet Description: The listed computers have multiple versions of the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) installed. BigFix recommends keeping only the latest version of JRE to properly guard against known security vulnerabilities. Deploying the action below will keep the highest installed version, and will uninstall all lower JRE versions.

Important Note: Some applications and applets are written and tested against a specific version of JRE. Removing old versions of JRE may cause these applications and applets to no longer function. Please take extra caution to qualify this action before deploying to a production environment.
