[Announcements for BES Administrators]

The IBM BigFix OS Deployment team is pleased to announce the release of OS 
Deployment Version 3.9

What's new in this release:

* You can specify network configuration settings for bare metal targets in 
three different ways: in the profile, using a new task, or at the target 
system during installation.

* You can specify rules for the target hostname in the bare metal profile

* You can automatically install Bare Metal Servers directly from the 
network 

* Linux Deployments
 
          * You can capture Linux reference images for bare metal 
deployments using a new task
 
          * A new partition editor in the bare metal profile wizard 
simplifies partitioning
 
          * You can specify client custom settings for reimaging and bare 
metal deployments

          *  You can create Linux network boot media

          *  You can deploy profiles using multicast

* Windows Deployments
 
          * A new task is available to complete in-place upgrades to 
Windows 10
 
          * New tasks are available to capture and restore user state 
(USMT) on targets.

          * You can choose the BigFix Client version to be installed 
during a Bare Metal deployment of a manually captured Image

Actions to take: 

This release is an update of the existing site. No immediate actions are 
required and the current product will continue to function normally. Some 
changes were made to existing features and to the User Interface. 
To take advantage of the new features, you may need to create a new 3.9 
MDT Bundle and update your Bare Metal Servers to version 7.1.1 Fixpack 20.
The installation and upgrade of the Bare Metal OS Deployment server can 
automatically download the latest available version directly from the 
network.
In airgapped or proxy environments, you may need to cache files on the 
BigFix Server and/or the Console. Tivoli Provisioning Manager for OS 
Deployment can be also downloaded from FixCentral.
