[BESAdmin-Announcements] Mobile Device Management - Version 2.0 Release (Updated Release Notes)

IBM has released version 2.0 of IBM Endpoint Manager for Mobile Device 
Management (MDM). This announcement contains additional information than 
the previous announcement.

New Major Features: 
1. Enhanced Multi-Tenancy Support – MDM now supports multi-tenancy with 
the addition of “enrollment” tags. See Additional Links section for more 
details.
2. BlackBerry 10 support - BlackBerry 10 devices can now be managed 
through the Exchange Extender via the ActiveSync interface.
3. Windows Phone 8 and Windows Surface RT support - These devices can now 
be managed through the Exchange Extender via the ActiveSync interface.
4. Deny Email Access for Exchange – You can now deny email access to 
devices which are non-compliant in MS Exchange 2010 and Office 365. 
5. Expanded Lotus Traveler Security Policy Support – Lotus Traveler 
Security Policies now support a wider range of Android security policies 
using Lotus Traveler 8.5.3.
6. Enhanced iOS Security Options - iOS Management Extender now supports 
enhanced authentication of iOS Clients via client-side certificates. 
7. Reworked Domain Tree Navigation - Reorganized the Mobile Device 
Management Domain to provide easier and more intuitive navigation. 


Fixed Issues: 
- Android devices now do their first gather much more quickly (should now 
respond much more quickly on enrollment) 
- Fixed a few potential app crashes for the iOS App
- Fixed issue configuring Authenticated Enrollment that used passwords 
with the “%” character. 
- Fixed problem configuring LDAP with Chinese characters 
- Sensitive information (like passwords) are now obfuscated in Exchange 
and Traveler configuration files. 
- Now support ssid’s with spaces in the Android Wifi Wizard 
- Added support for EAP-TTLS Android Wifi Profiles
- Fixed faulty relevance in Android Security Policy Wizard 
- Fixed problem where Android Security Policies temporally report “failed” 

- Fixed problem creating iOS Profiles for Exchange ActiveSync using 
certain characters (such as “\”) 
- “Android_relay” will now always be configured correctly in the Setup and 
Configuration Wizard 
- Now supports nonstandard BigFix ports in the Setup and Configuration 
Wizard
- Fixed potential problem creating concurrent actions in the Self Service 
Portal 
- Timestamps in the Self Service Portal should now be displayed in the 
browsers local time 
- Command status should now automatically update in the Self Service 
Portal
- Fixed device location not working in Self Service Portal for certain 
latitudes
- Cleaned up Fixlet “Category” “Source” and “Source Severity fields to be 
more consistent
- Added more OS labels to exchange, replacing previous “unknown” OSes
- Fixed problem where expired devices (devices that haven’t reported in 
several days) could not report back in
- Fixed various typos and descriptions 
 
Other changes: 
Android devices now must be enrolled using the Enrollment server. You can 
no longer point them directly to a relay. This avoids the confusion with 
certain devices getting registered directly in Tivoli Endpoint Manager 
without specifying their user id. 
 
Required Actions: 
1. To upgrade your SSP, first upgrade your Trusted Service Provider 
(Fixlet 200: Upgrade Trusted Service Provider) before upgrading your Self 
Service Provider (Fixlet 184: Upgrade Self Service Portal).
2. Upgrade your iOS and Enrollment Extender using Fixlet 94: Upgrade 
Management Extender for Enrollment and Apple iOS. 
3. Upgrade your Android Device Notification Service using Fixlet 199: 
Upgrade Android Device Notifier Service (GCM) on Server 
4. Upgrade your proxy agents on any applicable management extender using 
Fixlet 191: Upgrade Proxy Agents.
 
 
Known Issues:
- iOS app crash while connecting to a misconfigured servers. The iOS app 
in the app-store is expected to be refreshed by mid February which will 
fix this issue. 
- Android agent crash for long licenses in old devices. The license text 
is being redone for the March 2013 release which will fix this issue.
