IBM has modified content and updated the web application component of the
product formerly known as BigFix DSS Software Asset Management. The product
has been renamed Tivoli Endpoint Manager for Software Usage Analysis. The
new release of the web component is version 1.3 and the current version of
the content site is 18. Note that the gather URL has not changed.

Reason for Update:
The product has been renamed. In addition, the following issues have been
resolved in the Tivoli Endpoint Manager for Software Usage Analysis 1.3 web
application component:
35618 - Apache SSL configuration no longer allows low strength ciphers.
38274 - When a custom application usage analysis in a custom site is used
instead of the default analysis provided in the external site, the system
no longer periodically reverts back to the default.
39751 - Unmapped executable file names and paths with ASCII control
characters as well as some printable characters that appear in Unix
endpoint properties no longer cause a portion of the import process to
fail.
40074 - The import process, when locked by another program or process, no
longer fails.

Actions to Take:
None, although some current licensees of DSS SAM may want to download and
install the new Tivoli Endpoint Manager for Software Usage Analysis 1.3 web
component if they are affected by the issues resolved in this release.

The Tivoli Endpoint Manager for Software Usage Analysis 1.3 installer
contains a full installation of the web application, the
previously-released January 2011 Software Catalog, and the database
component of the product — an installation of a previous version of DSS SAM
is not a pre-requisite. However, if a previous version of DSS SAM is
already installed in your environment, you may upgrade to Tivoli Endpoint
Manager for Software Usage Analysis 1.3 without uninstalling the previous
version. To do this, download Tivoli Endpoint Manager for Software Usage
Analysis 1.3 and run the installer on the computer where DSS SAM is
currently running, ensuring that the DSS SAM database server is running and
accessible. The installer will automatically detect DSS SAM in your
environment and replace it with Tivoli Endpoint Manager for Software Usage
Analysis 1.3 in the same environment without affecting your application
data or configurations.

All currently-licensed DSS SAM customers may now download the update and
all associated product documentation using the same URL they received from
BigFix Licensing when they purchased the product.

Thank you!
