[BESAdmin-Announcements] Now available: BigFix DSS SAM 1.2.4

Dear BigFix Community:

DSS SAM 1.2.4 was recently released to all customers. This release introduces forward compatibility for DSS SAM with upcoming updates to BigFix Web Reports user authentication and the release resolves several recently-discovered issues in other areas of the DSS SAM product. This release applies to you if you plan to entitle forthcoming BigFix Web Reports 8.0 users to DSS SAM authentication or if you are affected by any of the issues noted in the Resolved Issues section of the release notes (http://support.bigfix.com/product/documents/dss/ReleaseNotes_124.pdf).

The DSS SAM 1.2.4 installer contains a full installation of the web application, the previously-released June 2010 Software Catalog (note: the July Catalog is forthcoming), and database component of the product — an installation of a previous version of DSS SAM is not a pre-requisite. However, if a previous version of DSS SAM is already installed in your environment, you may upgrade to version 1.2.4 without uninstalling the previous version. To do this, download DSS SAM 1.2.4 and run the installer on the computer where DSS SAM is currently running, ensuring that the DSS SAM database server is running and accessible. The installer will automatically detect DSS SAM in your environment and replace it with version 1.2.4 in the same environment without affecting your application data or configurations.

All currently-licensed DSS SAM customers may now download the update and all associated product documentation using the same URL they received from BigFix Licensing when they purchased the product.
