BigFix is pleased to announce the general availability of new product updates for the Security Configuration Management v3 solution module!

This release is considered a maintenance release, but includes many bug fixes and several new product features to enable you to take better advantage of the BigFix Security Configuration Management product. The new features for this release include:

* New Exception Management Dashboard and updated reports
* New checklist support for DISA STIG on AIX 6.1
* Updated FDCC checklists to support FDCC major version 1.2.1.0
* New SCAP import wizard
* New SCAP report creation wizard
* DISA-based content updates to include severity (Cat I, II, III, IV) as described by DISA.

The product has also achieved re-validation from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) as an SCAP validated product for FDCC, Patch and Vulnerability, and Misconfiguration remediation on the Microsoft XP and Vista platforms. The details of this certification can be found on the NIST web site: http://nvd.nist.gov/validation_bigfix.cfm.

Please note that a critical issue was identified in the BigFix "set" inspector that may cause a memory leak in the client. The BigFix SCM content uses this inspector for many of the Privilege Rights and Permissions checks. The issue will be resolved with an upcoming patch release of the BigFix client. For more information on this issue and other known issues, see the release notes located here:

Any customers that currently own the SCMv3 solution module, SCVM solution pack, or SLM+SCVM solution pack will have access to this new content as part of the existing mastheads already installed on your deployment. The new content will be automatically gathered by your deployment. A new masthead is required for AIX 6.1. This can be obtained by contacting licensing at bigfix.com<mailto:licensing at bigfix.com>.

BES administrators are encouraged to verify open actions as necessary. If you are using custom sites, you will need to update the content in those sites with the content in the BigFix out of the box sites manually.

Please contact BigFix Technical Support if you have any questions regarding this change.

Thanks!
