[BESAdmin-Announcements] Critical update for BigFix DSS SAM 1.1.1 customers

This notice applies to you if:
You have upgraded to DSS SAM 1.1.1 from a prior version and you had customized your DSS SAM software catalog prior to upgrading.

This notice does NOT apply to you if:
You have not upgraded to DSS SAM 1.1.1.
You upgraded to 1.1.1 but did not have custom catalog entries in DSS SAM when you upgraded.
You did a clean install of DSS SAM 1.1.1 (rather than an upgrade from a previous version).

If you have already upgraded to DSS SAM 1.1.1 and are not affected by this issue, no further action is needed on your part. Version 1.1.1 is stable and can be used normally. If you have not yet upgraded to 1.1.1, you should upgrade directly to DSS SAM 1.1.2 instead.


Details:
A critical bug affecting the upgrade to BigFix DSS SAM 1.1.1 from a previous version was recently discovered that can cause data loss in the DSS SAM software catalog.

If you had custom software catalog entries and you upgraded to DSS SAM 1.1.1, your custom entries need to be restored from your pre-1.1.1 database backup. Please consult the instructions at http://support.bigfix.com/cgi-bin/kbdirect.pl?id=1016.

If you do not have a pre-1.1.1 database backup, you can consult your software catalog audit log to determine the changes that need to be re-applied in your 1.1.1 environment.

All customers may now upgrade from any previous version to DSS SAM 1.1.2, now available from the URL provided to you by BigFix licensing when you
initially procured the product.
