[Announcements for BES Administrators]

BigFix has modified content in the BigFix DSS Software Asset Management site. Several changes and additions are now available that improve the reliability, scalability, and accuracy of software inventory and license management in DSS SAM. For instance:


 *   There is a new version of the SAM Scanner with enhanced error handling and better handling of 64-bit operating environments. A new Upgrade DSS SAM Scanner task is now available in the site to assist with the upgrade.
 *   The Installed Application Information (Windows) analysis has been updated to handle variability in how 64-bit applications are installed and registered.
 *   The Installed Application Information (Windows) analysis has been updated to provide detailed information about Windows operating system versions and editions.
 *   The DSS SAM Deployment Dashboard has additional detail and new menu options.
 *   A new option to compress inventory data on endpoints is now available in the Upload task.

To take advantage of these important updates, you do not need to upgrade your DSS SAM server beyond release version 1.1.1, but you must ensure your BigFix server gathers the most recent BigFix DSS Software Asset Management site. To upgrade the SAM Scanner and to deploy the upload task using the compression option, please refer to the instructions on the BigFix support website at:
